        Soderstrom Dermatology Center, S.C. is a full service Dermatology and Plastic Surgery clinic, with a fully certified ambulatory surgery center and cosmetic medical day spa included.  Essentially, everything you need for total skin care is conveniently available within our facility. 

       We work with most insurance carriers to file claims according to their billing standards.  It may be necessary to perform multiple services or procedures to help you with your total care.  These include, but are not limited to your office visit, surgery, instrument tray, pathology report, other laboratory reports, handling fees, and other appropriate diagnosis and treatment services.  Because we offer such a complete range of services to meet your medical needs, (i.e. on-site laboratory, drug room, and pathology reading, outpatient surgery center facility), if all of these services occur in the same visit for expeditious service to you, your charges may include these multiple services.

        We will bill your insurance for you.  We will ask that you be responsible for meeting any applicable deductibles and co-pays at the time of service, unless prior arrangements have been approved.  If you pay in full at the time of service, a refund check will be sent to you once your insurance has paid.  These refund checks are cut on a weekly basis.  Our knowledgeable staff of patient relation specialists are available to assist you in person or by phone at (309) 282-2499.  Cosmetic procedures are considered non-covered procedures by insurance.

1. Soderstrom Dermatology Center, S.C. is a participating preferred provider with Caterpillar.  We will bill Caterpillar/UnitedHealthcare for your services that are covered under your insurance coverage.  Payment is required at the time of service for any applicable co-pays and/or co-insurance amounts that are patient responsibility and for any non-covered services that may be rendered.
2. THE AMOUNT YOU MAY BE BILLED for our services:
   • Any annual deductible.
   • Any co-insurance amount.
   • Charges for services or supplies that are not covered by insurance.
   • Any services denied by Caterpillar for which you have signed a waiver. 
   • Cosmetic services are available to all patients and are not billed to your insurance. 
   • For further clarification, you may want to check with UnitedHealthcare to see which services are covered under your Caterpillar Plan.
3. Psoriasis patients - Caterpillar does cover light treatments for psoriasis, but not the use of the Xtrac laser to date.  Any Xtrac laser charges will be patient responsibility.
4. Medical Photography - We offer the specialized service of mole mapping to assist in the preventative care of skin cancer.  Caterpillar does not cover this service.  Any related charges will be patient responsibility.
5. Mohs Micrographic Surgery - Caterpillar covers this service and the related facility charge.
6. Outpatient Surgery Center Facility Fees - With the exception of Mohs surgery, Caterpillar requires all medically necessary surgery be performed at an approved facility, i.e., OSF St. Francis Medical Center or the Center for Health facility.  All routine dermatology surgery is performed in our office.
7. Medications may or may not be covered by Caterpillar, depending on your plan. 
   • Prescription medications (no drug card) can be purchased here and paid for at the time of service.
   • Prescription medications (with a drug card) - Let us know and we can give you a prescription to take to a pharmacy.  We do not accept prescription drug cards. 
   • Over-the-counter medications are not covered by insurance companies.  These can be purchased here and paid for at the time of service. 
8. Laboratory charges with medical necessity are covered by Caterpillar.
   • Pathologies and fungal cultures are covered by Caterpillar in accordance with your plan and will be processed through our office.
   • Blood tests and other laboratory tests are covered by Caterpillar in accordance with your plan.  You will receive a requisition or prescription for blood work and have those tests drawn at a NetWork provider (such as OSF).  They will bill this for your and it will be paid at NetWork amounts.  Results of those tests will be forwarded to us.
