Cosmetic Surgery - Information on Insurance and Related Costs
With regards to cosmetic surgery, the terminology usually refers to any procedure which is not deemed medically necessary and is an elective treatment. Most cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. You may wish to check with your carrier before electing to undergo such a procedure. All insurance coverage is different, usually subjected to co-payments and deductibles, and the patient will often be subjected to some fee as well. During your cosmetic consultation, you will be given a written quote for the costs of the procedure you are interested in having done. If responsibility for payment falls solely to the patient, the total fee for the cosmetic procedure will be due prior to your date of surgery.
